A guide to La La Land’s best furniture showrooms and galleries
By Alexandra Donohoe Church
Los Angeles is a city known for its glitz and glamour, and its furniture shops are no exception. From sleek and modern designs to vintage and bohemian finds, there’s something for every taste and style. On a recent tour of some of LA’s top furniture showrooms and galleries, we were struck by the diversity and creativity lurking behind the doors of each we visited.
At the iconic 20th-century Hollywood mansion ‘Goldwyn House’ we browsed through a curated collection of high-end designer pieces from Chris Wolston, Eric Roinestad, Dee Clements, Ian Collings and Reinaldo Sanguino, among others, while at Galerie Baruch, we were greeted with the most magical hospitality from the proprietor Rhett and his partner whilst perusing the wunderkind that is their home atelier. A huge discovery for me was Hostler Burrows Gallery where I discovered ceramic artists Carlos Otero and Kristina Riska.
But perhaps the most memorable stop was my pilgrimage to Ralph Pucci, the international luxury furniture and lighting company, where I reacquainted my love affair with Eric Schmitt and collected new favourites such John Wigmore’s ceramic works and the ‘Symmetric Sofa’ by American designer Paul McCobb.
No matter what your personal aesthetic may be, it was a great reminder that getting out of your day-to-day bubble will inspire and delight.
